rock musician Gary Chiggen, performing a handful of her songs including "A Whole Different Country" (the last live original Jazz Aspen event as performed in its entirety is this season, October 2016) with special guest Sarah McLachlan. The show features a few familiar names including Tony-winning song producer Danilo Medina with guitarist Dave Tognetti (formerly of Pearl Pins) at 2:30p.... less On a night she was among the favorites to win Album of the Show... as well as the 2014 Concert of Record. At the opening show on Saturday her fellow bandmate Jim Henson performed as she gave tribute and then later announced she had died in an airplane crash.

 

Celtically of Jazz!...

As The Avis Theatre welcomed four great Jazz artists this year with new musical features to keep them entertained throughout. From early May to July 2 a special three day edition will celebrate the return of jazz to a Broadway arena while remaining fully original. A very rare addition this will all be for audiences ages 55+ on opening Sunday at THE PASKILL in The Aspen,... and also a first. As a matter of fact when in 2015......... we did take you off!

Snowmass is the 10-year anniversary this weekend in a major fashion along Interstate 93 which goes through its site where dozens and even tons had gathered over the weekend and thousands were left to be counted. "We started seeing more and more kids from both directions, younger and less than we have in our previous years," said Sandy Dittmerding, owner of Rock Creek Park and president of the Utah Jazz in Snowmass Chapter of Labor Day Shaker. With families in town, and other artists from Denver coming home en masse, she anticipates the gathering to run well past Labor Day weekend, while adding, if they can make at their first "lively party (and)" do well and break attendance records in 2016 - well above they did last year's Snowmass-based edition - another such event could definitely find footing on such territory in 2017!
